If You Feel Any Uncomfortable

Today we are in Guangzhou, China.  Today is clinic day.

This is the point in the adoption process where people in white coats torture you and your child for several hours in a hot, crowded, crumbling building.  It involves poking and prodding and getting stabbed with needles.

We took a short walk down the street from our hotel to the clinic.  The air was oppressively heavy--about to rain--since the front that hung over us all through our stay in Zhengzhou had followed us south, here.  The air inside of the old clinic building wasn't any better.  I could tell the air conditioning was turned on (unlike any of the buildings in Zhengzhou) but the number of people made it suffocating.  Being a Saturday morning, the place was overcrowded with families trying to get their appointments pushed through before it closed down for the afternoon and the weekend.

At first, we were told to wait.  Our guides would work with the clinic to help get the paperwork set up for our group.

So we waited.  And waited.  The kids played together a bit.  ( The little girl on the left playing with Teegan is 8 years old.  She is so happy and excited to be getting a family.  She makes me smile.  )

These two boys (holding Teegan and standing in front of him) have been the best playmates. They are from another family traveling with us. Teegan loves them. They run and play ball and wrestle with him.  We keep telling them we'll have to bring them home with us, since all Teegan has are Jie-Jie's (big sisters) waiting for him.

Finally, it was Teegan's turn for some action.  Unfortunately, it wasn't the kind of action he was looking for.

The chart behind them in this picture is an eye chart for the bigger kids.  They have to show which direction the hand is pointing with their own hand, something I found easier to do than read the letters on an American eye chart.

This lady was an Ear Nose and Throat doctor.  She actually wore that big met circle on her forehead.  Cool.
"If you feel any uncomfortable, please come to see our doctor at once!"

Yes.  It was uncomfortable.  Doctor...?

Lastly, Teegan had to recieve six vacines and a TB test.

I know how he feels.
