South Florida Trip Part II

Yesterday, Tamar and I took the kids to the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale. It was very cool with lots of exciting things for kids to explore. Especially Noodle. There is an area just for "discovery play" for kids to run around like nuts. It had a climbing tree that Noodle loved crawling around in and exploring.
Below the tree were tunnels and plexiglass with lily pads in them to look like water. The kids could crawl under the "water" and through the lily pad "roots" that hung underneath. However, Hopers didn't realize the glass edge was there at one point, and walked right into it (exactly forehead height). Poor baby has to get a head injury at least once a day...even on vacation!

Another area that they liked was the orange farm. Kids could dump plastic oranges into a machine that separates them into crates. The conveyor moves when someone pedals the bicycle (see Noodle).

Then the children take the crates of oranges over to the "factory" on the other side of the room, where the send them down another conveyor belt that goes behind the wall. Suddenly, more oranges pop out of the orange trees nearby.
All the kids loved this! You can see Tamar and Luke helping Hopers and Elijah get oranges off the trees. Here is the tractor for transporting the orange crates. Hopers loves riding things.

We also looked at aquariums of fish, turtles, snakes, bats, possums and other live animals. Upstairs in the museum were robotic dinosaur exhibits and an air/space exhibit. Here's a picture of Noodle testing out what it would be like to have airplane wings instead of arms. There's a strong wind blowing on her and she was getting tired while I was trying to take a picture of her!

Everyone had a great time.
